.Dear Idaho school superintendent,
On July 1, 2016, the Idaho Office of School Safety and Security (IOSSS) was created within the Division of Building Safety (DBS). The responsibilities of IOSSS are set forth in Title 33 Chapter 58 (59), Idaho Code and we hope you will view IOSSS as an asset to your district in our combined effort to enhance the safety and security of the students and staff of our educational institutions statewide.
To increase awareness among students, administrators, parents, staff and the public in general, IOSSS has launched the “See, Tell, Now!” campaign. Idaho’s First Lady Lori Otter, a former educator and children’s books author, serves as the campaign’s honorary spokesperson. She has made a number of personal appearances at schools around Idaho, where she has referred to the public awareness initiative as “…by far, to me, one of the most important things that have happened through the State Board of Education and through the Legislature.” Governor C. L. “Butch” Otter has proclaimed September 2016 “School Safety and Security Month in Idaho” and has urged all Idahoans to join in the effort by being alert and vigilant in detecting and reporting potential security threats in our public schools.
We are asking school districts throughout Idaho to add, and prominently feature, “See, Tell, Now!” information on their district websites. Some have already done so. If yours is among them, thank you! If not, your support in this matter would be sincerely appreciated.
First Lady Otter has produced public service announcements to promote “See, Tell, Now!” on radio and television. The TV version, which may be freely embedded to your website, is posted on the IOSSS website and is also available for viewing on YouTube .We have attached to this email, as a separate document, high-definition electronic versions of the logos for IOSSS and the “See, Tell, Now!” campaign. You are welcome to use either or both in any manner you choose.
I thank you for whatever level of support you may give this valuable initiative to make Idaho’s educational institutions safer and more secure.
Sincerely,
C. KELLY PEARCE
